Guided Horse Pack Trips for Wildlife Tracking

Are you looking for a horseback riding hut based wildlife tracking trip that is environmentally sustainable and allows you to make your contribution to nature?

“REALIZE DEEPLY THAT THE PRESENT MOMENT IS ALL YOU HAVE. MAKE THE NOW THE PRIMARY FOCUS OF YOUR LIFE”

– ECKHART TOLLE, SPIRITUAL TEACHER

Our guided wildlife tracking horse pack trips will take you through the rugged wilderness of the Chilcotin Ark to learn more about the nature around you and within you. Each of our guided horseback riding wildlife tracking trips provide you with hands-on experience in wildlife identification, behaviour and habitats and conservation projects. This allows you to make your contribution to conservation, grow and gain a new perspective on life that may not always be found in busy city streets. Some of the opportunities you and your family will experience on a guided horseback riding wildlife tracking trip with us are:
  • LEARN TO SADDLE YOUR HORSE WITH AN INTRODUCTORY MOUNTAIN HORSEBACK RIDING LESSON AND GET INVOLVED IN HORSE CARE IN THE CHILCOTIN MOUNTAINS
  • LEARN TO TRACK WILDLIFE AND LEARN ABOUT THEIR HABITS AND HABITATS TO MAKE YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO CONSERVATION AND STEWARDSHIP
  • CHOOSE A 5 OR 7 DAY TRIP IN THE SOUTH CHILCOTIN MOUNTAINS OF BRITISH COLUMBIA WITH ALL MEALS AND ACCOMMODATION INCLUDED
  • Ride historic south chilcotin mountain trails through wildflower meadows into the alpine
  • Horseback riding at sunrise and sunset for prime wildlife viewing opportunities
  • Your guided horseback riding wildlife tracking trip will lead you through a wilderness full of adventure and confidence-building challenges such as riding the mountain ridge tops
  • Connect with nature and yourself as you ride horseback scouting for wildlife
  • Join in real conservation projects such as mountain goat population counts and burdock invasive species management
  • Gain a fresh perspective on your life’s purpose while horseback riding through the south chilcotin mountains on a wildlife tracking conservation trip

On our guided wildlife tracking horse pack trip, arrive at the ranch and enjoy lunch in our historic lodge. Then meet your horse, learn how to saddle with a mountain horseback riding orientation, take a short ride to prepare for tomorrow and review the wildlife tracking trip itinerary with your guides.

Early next morning bring in your horses, saddle your riding horse, learn to pack the pack horses then ride out to camp. Scout for wildlife such as mountain goats, grizzly bears and wolves at prime spots along the way. Unsaddle and stake your horses in the wildflower meadows. Settle into your horseback riding camp with a mountain hut or cabin. Cook dinner over the campfire and enjoy the night in your wall tent, allowing you to stay close to nature throughout the trip. The next morning of your trip, ride out at sunrise to check for grizzly bear tracks and scout for mountain goats and other wildlife in their prime locations. Learn about where to find each species such as black and grizzly bears, mule deer, mountain goats and California Bighorn sheep and their behaviours. Return to camp for breakfast, or make a fire and cook on the trail. Spend all day horseback riding the mountain tops and learn more about the flora and fauna. Record every animal you see in our wildlife sightings form to contribute to habitat and population management. Remove invasive species and collect data along the way such as grizzly hair from rub trees for DNA analysis. Return to camp for dinner, then ride out at sunset for one last wildlife scouting adventure for grizzly bear or maybe a wolf. On our seven day trip, you will have two more days scouting for wildlife, returning to spots where you saw them the day before, or trying somewhere new.
The next day, pack up camp and ride back to the ranch, scouting for tracks along the way. On your final morning, learn how to do bareback riding, a unique horseback riding lesson, archery and biathlon target shooting before lunch with a final review of the week’s adventure.
