Guiding with confidence as a Wilderness Horseback Guide

Imagine relaxing atop a horse, feeling light, free, and confident in what you just experienced in becoming a wilderness horseback guide. The journey of any wilderness or outdoor guide training, is exhilarating and intimidating, but by involving yourself in one, or more, of Chilcotin Holidays training ventures, we are exposed with challenging ourselves, our confidence, leadership skills, independence, our initiative and the go-getter attitude that will drive us forward in life. In the wilderness there is much to learn, and the opportunities are up for grabs for everyone.

Being any outdoor guide takes practice, patients and understanding, all of which is embraced at the ranch. It’s hard to walk into unchartered territory, or take on habit changes, but by accepting and embracing accountability for our lives and choices, we release the grip of fear and feeling incapable of accomplishment or potential. It gets too easy sitting back and watching life go by, but fear can hold tight. Overcoming challenges is the nature of humanity; to become better, to make things better, and taking on guide training with Chilcotin Holidays to become a Wilderness horseback guide, is no small feat, but it’s worth it in everyway.

Becoming a wilderness horseback guide connects nature to you and you to yourself, and especially to the potential you are capable of. We all have potential; it’s whether or not we want it; here, you seize it. Training for wilderness horseback guiding follows a set of skills and responsibilities needed for such a role. The training programs are designed to help you achieve, grow and develop the specific skillsets in this field. They focus on mountainous safety, animal safety, on the care and health of horses, on surviving and traversing the many terrains and changing seasons. Both the 1-week and 2-week guide trainings, focus on planning and preparing for your trips, how to manage the wilderness camps, and much more with their comprehensive programs. Training begins at Chilcotin Holidays main ranch, and ends with practicing your new skills in action. Training also involves learning about the adventure tourism industry, horses needs and wellbeing, horsemanship skills and the dos and don’ts in nature; we go through demonstrations and practices with shoeing, saddling and packing, feeding, and caring for others and our horses in remote areas.

The focus is to develop skills and create good habits, to understand the importance of the land and natures surprises. We are curious creatures, always learning, and when we open up to it, improving and striving to become the best we can be, leads to unimaginable levels of accomplishment inside us. Becoming a Wilderness Horseback Guide gives views and experiences that are worth more than the eye can see, its what we take with us when we leave; a sense of accomplishment, of purpose, independence, hope, we just have to embrace opportunities. Chilcotin Holidays Wilderness Horseback Guide training connects each of us to who we are, who we could be, who we want to be and aims us right for it with all their training and vacations.
There is always something new to do, learn and experience.
