Only accessible by foot, bike, horseback, or float plane, your journey to our Spruce Lake Park Backpackers Lodge has you travelling ancient game trails once used by explorers, pioneers, and gold miners.
Untouched by civilization, you’ll travel to the pristine wilderness of Spruce Lake set amidst the South Chilcotin Mountains of southwestern British Columbia. Here you’ll hear the rush of glacial-fed rivers, discover 50 million year-old fossils, and see a spectacular array of colour where over 150 species of wildflowers bloom.
Situated in a rainshadow between the Coast Mountain and the Chilcotin Plateau, we have the perfect climate in an almost bug-free environment where you can summit challenging, yet obtainable, glaciated shale terrain by foot, pedal, or horse. This is adventure travel the way it was meant to be.
Set amongst the pines, our lodge consists of eight 10′x12′ walk-about tent cabins and a historic lodge cabin with sleeping loft. Tent cabins have flooring, wood heaters, and two single beds. The camp is equipped with two campfire areas, picnic tables, shower house with hot water, and a corral and tack to service horses.
Chilcotin Holidays offers full-service guided packages and self-guided trips at Spruce Lake Park Backpackers Lodge.
On a full service package with Chilcotin Holidays, we take care of everything. Simply arrive at Chilcotin Holidays Guest Ranch, in Gold Bridge, BC (with your personal gear) and your adventure is set to begin. Packages include: your gear being transported to the lodge via packhorse; a wilderness guide taking you to Spruce Lake via foot, horseback, or mountain bike; and guided daytrips while at the lodge.
A self-guided trip lets you head out on your own — to hike or bike the area — or simply kick-back and enjoy the beauty of the lake. Should you forget something, we have a small store with staples for sale. In addition to groceries, there are three meals a day prepared and served at the lodge (available with advance notice).
Lodge rentals and services include a wharf with three flat-bottom boats and a canoe, fishing equipment, sleeping bags, and satellite phones. Guided services are available for horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking, wildlife/grizzly viewing, fishing, and gold panning. You can also hire Chilcotin Holidays to transport your gear via packhorse to and from the lodge.
